Consultants Are The Worst.

Consultants Are the Worst.

Take it from the experts – or rather anyone who has ever worked anywhere – that business is messy. Politics, accountability, bad bosses, lack of progress, etc., etc. It is so common, that business leaders and owners will actually pay someone outside of the business to come and help provide input and guidance on how to make the business less messy [Enter, Focused Facilitation].

However, there are several reasons why companies don’t see the value in utilizing an outside consultant – despite their business inefficiencies. I’ll share with you some of the common ones.

1. They can’t see the plank in their own eye.

Far too many leaders are out of touch with what is really going on in their business. If the leaders don’t see it, chances are there are not many people in the organization who are willing to take it to the head honcho – either creating triangulation or just plain lack of visibility of issues.

2. There are too many consultants who have too little experience – and they ruin it for everyone else

Don’t you just hate these people? Sorry, this is me. Young business professions can become greedy – because as seen in my next point there is big money in the consulting industry. I don’t consider myself greedy, but left to my own accord I would possibly provide poor information to an organization simply due to my lack of experience.

3. Consultants are way too expensive

The up-front high fee of a consultant can be daunting. If your business is hurting, there might be little room for a 1 or 2-day session fee, especially if you don’t see any results.

You may be wondering why these comments are showing up on the Focused Facilitation blog. I’ll tell you why – we are NOT consultants. We simply aren’t! We do not give you all the answers on how to make your business more successful. So, what do we do?

We facilitate. Focused Facilitation operates under the belief the 99.99% of the time, the answers are in the conference room. YOU, the business leaders and owners, are the experts. What we do, is provide the operating system to ultimately help you get more out of your business. We have a step by step process, by the end of which you will see your business more successful, profitable, manageable, and ultimately more fun! Understanding this – let me address the above reasons why companies don’t hire consultants, and why you should hire one of our Focused Facilitators.

1. We don’t want to work with business who are not self-aware

I know, this sounds brutal. However, we have found that clients who don’t see the problems that they have fail to solve them. Chances are if you are reading this blog, you understand that your business has issues and you want to improve them.

2. Our processes create the value.

I, by myself, do not have the experience necessary to adequately help your business. However, the EOS® process does! We frequently say that our implementers are not worth their cost, but the system is. The EOS® system is a powerful, proven process that has helped over 3,000 businesses be more successful.

3. We provide you with a value guarantee

All of our EOS® implementers give this guarantee: if you do not receive value for any given session day, then you simply don’t pay. By implementing this guarantee, we see that more people are willing to try the process, and end up seeing huge results. But, again, if you don’t see the value – you don’t pay us.
